On September 5, the Memphis Grizzlies provided an update on the injury status of team forward Jaren Jackson Jr.
On Wednesday, Jackson Jr. underwent surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot. The team will re-evaluate Jackson Jr.’s condition in three months. This means he will be out for at least three months, and with the new season starting in mid-October, it is estimated that Jackson Jr. will not return to the court until 2025.
Last week, Jackson Jr. injured his foot during a layup while playing basketball in Texas.
Jackson is currently 19 years old and was selected by the Grizzlies in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. Last season, Jackson averaged 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in 48 games (starting 18), and he was also named to the NBA All-Rookie Team, one of the few bright spots for the Grizzlies last season.
The Grizzlies’ record last season was 27 wins and 55 losses.
