Recently, 23-year-old Indonesian naturalized national team player Sylgers gave an interview to the official football association, discussing the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers Group Stage and his journey of completing the naturalization process to join the Indonesian national team.

Sylgers is a Dutch-Indonesian mixed heritage player who plays as a center-back and currently represents Dutch Eredivisie club Twente. He officially completed his naturalization procedures at the end of September and will make his debut for the Indonesian national team in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers Group Stage.

Sylgers said, “Our goal is, of course, to strive to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, so we need to focus on winning every match, and we also need support from the fans.”

Sylgers was born and raised in the Netherlands, with his mother hailing from North Sulawesi, Indonesia, which made him eligible for naturalization as an Indonesian player. Sylgers added, “I see my parents are incredibly proud; they are very excited about me playing against Bahrain on Thursday.”
